ਅਖਾਣ: ਉਹ ਫਿਰੇ ਨੱਥ ਘੜਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ। ਉਹ ਫਿਰੇ ਨੱਕ ਵਢਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ॥
Akhan: Uh phire natth gharaun nu, uh phire nakk vadhaun nu
ਅਰਥ: ਜਦ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਉਲਟਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਤੁਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
Literal Translation: One goes to pierce a nose-ring, the other to cut the nose.
Meaning (English): Different people have opposite intentions.
English Equivalent: One man’s meat is another man’s poison.
