ਅਖਾਣ: ਮੁੱਦਈ ਸੁਸਤ, ਗਵਾਹ ਚੁਸਤ
Akhan: Muddai sust, gawah chust
ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੌਂ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਢਿੱਲਾ-ਮੱਠਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਉਹਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੱਸਦੇ, ਭੱਜਦੇ ਫਿਰਨ, ਤਾਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Literal Translation: Plaintiff lazy, witness alert
Meaning (English): Those responsible may not act, but observers notice
English Equivalent: The guilty are lazy, the witnesses sharp
