ਅਖਾਣ: ਮਾਂ-ਪੁਰ ਧੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੁਰ ਘੋੜਾ, ਬਹੁਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ
Akhan: Maan-pur dhi pita pur ghoda, bahuta nahi ta thoda thoda
ਅਰਥ: ਧੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾ ਉਪਰ ਤੇ ਪੁੱਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾ ਪਿਉ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: Mother gives daughter, father gives a horse; if not much, a little of each
Meaning (English): Parents provide as much as they can
English Equivalent: Parents give what they can afford
