ਅਖਾਣ: ਮਾਂ ਫਿਰੇ ਫੋਸੀ ਫੋਸੀ ਨੂੰ, ਤੇ ਪੁੱਤ ਗੁਹਾਰੇ ਬਖਸ਼ੇ
Akhan: Maan phire phosi phosi nu, te putt guhare bakhshe
ਅਰਥ: ਜਦ ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਆਦਮੀ ਵਿਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਕੇ ਦਾਨ ਜਾਂ ਖਰਚ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Literal Translation: Mother wanders with spoons, son gets spoons and bowls
Meaning (English): Efforts of parents benefit children
English Equivalent: Parents’ labor benefits the next generation
