ਅਖਾਣ: ਦੇਣਾ ਭਲਾ ਨਾ ਬਾਪ ਦਾ, ਬੇਟੀ ਭਲੀ ਨਾ ਇੱਕ
Akhan: Dena Bhala Na Baap Da, Beti Bhali Na Ikk
ਅਰਥ: ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਪਿਓ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਲਿਆ ਵੀ ਮਾੜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਧੀ ਇਕ ਵੀ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: Neither the father’s gift nor the daughter is truly good.
Meaning (English): One can’t fully trust inherited or given advantages.
English Equivalent: Nothing comes without strings attached.
