ਅਖਾਣ: ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਫੱਟ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਏ, ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ॥
Akhan: Talwar Da Phatt Mil Janda Ae, Zubaan Da Nahi Mild
ਅਰਥ: ਮੂੰਹੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕਹੀ ਬੁਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: Wounds from a sword heal, but words’ wounds do not.
Meaning (English): Verbal hurt lasts longer than physical hurt.
English Equivalent: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. (reversed meaning)
