ਅਖਾਣ: ਜੱਟ ਗੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ, (ਗੁੜ ਦੀ) ਭੇਲੀ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Akhan: Jatt Ganna Nahi Denda, (Gud Di) Bheli De Denda Hai
ਅਰਥ: ਇਸ ਅਖਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਜੱਟ ਦੇ ਅਲਬੇਲੇ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਵਲ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਮੰਗਣ ਤੇ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੇ ਤੇ ਰੌਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਕਈ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਧ ਦੇਵੇ, ਉਸ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Literal Translation: Jatt doesn’t give sugarcane, gives jaggery instead
Meaning (English): Sometimes one gives what they can afford or consider useful rather than what is perfect.
English Equivalent: Giving what one can, not what one wishes.
