ਅਖਾਣ: ਚਮੜੀ ਜਾਵੇ, ਦਮੜੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਵੇ
Akhan: Chamdi Jaave, Damdi Na Jaave
ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੰਜੂਸ ਬੰਦਾ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਔਖਿਆਈ ਝੱਲ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਪੈਸਾ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰੇ, ਉਸ ਤੇ ਘਟਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Literal Translation: The skin may go, but the fat does not go
Meaning (English): People may lose superficial things, but their core nature or essence remains
English Equivalent: You can’t change the nature of someone
