ਅਖਾਣ: ਚੱਕੀ ਦਾ ਪੀਠਾ ਚੰਗਾ, ਤੇ ਦੰਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੀਠਾ ਮੰਦਾ
Akhan: Chakki Da Peetha Changa, Te Dandan Da Peetha Manda
ਅਰਥ: ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਮੰਗ ਮੰਗ ਕੇ ਲਏ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਮੰਗਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਚੰਗੀ।
Literal Translation: The center of the mill is good, the teeth’s center is bad
Meaning (English): Appearances can be deceiving; what seems fine inside may be flawed
English Equivalent: All that glitters is not gold
