ਅਖਾਣ: ਖੰਡ-ਖੰਡ ਆਖਿਆ ਮੂੰਹ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ
Akhan: Khand-Khand Aakhia Munh Mithha Nahi Ho Janda
ਅਰਥ: ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਪੁਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਲਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਰੋਟੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਆਖਿਆਂ ਢਿੱਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਹਿੰਦੀ।
Literal Translation: Saying “sweet” repeatedly doesn’t make the mouth sweet
Meaning (English): Merely saying nice things doesn’t create real goodness or sweetness.
English Equivalent: Actions speak louder than words.
