ਅਖਾਣ: ਕਣਕ ਖੇਤ ਕੁੜੀ ਪੇਟ। ਆ ਜਵਾਈਆ ਮੰਡੇ ਖਾ॥
Akhan: Kanak Khet Kudi Pet. Aa Jawaaiya Mande Kha.
ਅਰਥ: ਅਜੇ ਹੱਥ ਪੱਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੋਣਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਆਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਖਰਚ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਜੁੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਣਾ।
Literal Translation: The girl’s belly is a wheat field; the bridegroom comes to eat the grain.
Meaning (English): People often exploit someone’s resources or generosity for their own benefit.
English Equivalent: Don’t let others take advantage of your hospitality.
