ਅਖਾਣ: ਹਸਦਾ ਪਿਉ ਦਾ ਰੋਂਦਾ ਮਾਂ ਦਾ॥
Akhan: Hasda piu da, ronda maa da.
ਅਰਥ: ਨਫ਼ੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਭਾਈਵਾਲ ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਘਾਟੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: Father laughs, mother cries.
Meaning (English): The father enjoys benefits while the mother bears the hardships.
English Equivalent: “The burden falls on the one who works, not the one who profits.”
