ਅਖਾਣ: ਸਹੁੰ ਦੇਈਏ ਜੀ ਦੀ। ਨਾ ਪੁੱਤ ਦੀ ਨਾ ਧੀ ਦੀ॥
Akhan: Sahun Deiye Ji Di. Na Put Di Na Dhi Di.
ਅਰਥ: ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿਵਾ ਜਾਂ ਜੁੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਉਠਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Literal Translation: Give respect to the person, not to the son or daughter.
Meaning (English): Value people for themselves, not for their relationships.
English Equivalent: Judge a person by their own merits.
