ਅਖਾਣ: ਸੱਸ ਨਾ ਨਨਾਣ ਆਪੇ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਪਰਧਾਨ॥
Akhan: Sass Na Nanaan Aape Vahuti Pardhan.
ਅਰਥ: ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਜਾਂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਰੋਕ ਟੋਕ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਨਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਪੁਛਣ ਗਿਛਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
Literal Translation: Mother-in-law and grandmother themselves become chief.
Meaning (English): Older women often take charge naturally.
English Equivalent: Age commands respect.
