ਅਖਾਣ: ਉਜੜੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਭੜੋਲਾ ਮਹਿਲ॥
Akhan: Ujre pind bhrola mehal
ਅਰਥ: ਕਿਸੇ ਥਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਾ ਲੱਭੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਾੜੀ ਮੋਟੀ ਨਿਕੰਮੀ ਸ਼ੈ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਕਦਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: In a ruined village, a grand mansion.
Meaning (English): Grandeur is useless without people.
English Equivalent: A palace in the desert is meaningless.
