ਅਖਾਣ: ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਗਿਦੜ ਵੀ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ॥
Akhan: Apne Ghar Giddar Vi Sher Hunda Hai
ਅਰਥ: ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਤੋਂ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: Even a jackal in one's own house is a lion
Meaning (English): People often exaggerate the importance or strength of someone familiar; we tend to overvalue those close to us.
English Equivalent: Every dog thinks its own puppy is a lion.
