ਅਖਾਣ: ਆਪਣਾ ਨੀਂਗਰ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਢੀਂਗਰ॥
Akhan: Apna Neengar Paraaia Dhingar
ਅਰਥ: ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸ਼ੈ ਚੰਗੀ ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪਰਾਈ ਮੰਦੀ ਤੇ ਨੁਕਸਾਂ ਭਰੀ ਦਿੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: One’s own child is precious; others’ child is just a stone.
Meaning (English): People value what belongs to them more than others’ possessions.
English Equivalent: Charity begins at home / Blood is thicker than water.
