ਅਖਾਣ: ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾ ਭਰੇ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੀ ਧਰੇ॥
Akhan: Apna Na Bhare Doojian Aage Ki Dhare
ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਵੀ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਹਨੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੋਈ
Literal Translation: If you can’t manage your own, what will you show in front of others?
Meaning (English): Take care of your affairs before trying to impress others.
English Equivalent: Sweep your own doorstep first.
