ਅਖਾਣ: ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਨਾ ਭਰੇ ਤੇ ਕੁੜਮਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੀ ਧਰੇ॥
Akhan: Apna Hi Na Bhare Taa Kurdma Aage Ki Dhare
ਅਰਥ: ਜਦੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: If you can’t manage your own, what will you show in front of others?
Meaning (English): You must take care of your own responsibilities before showing off.
English Equivalent: Charity begins at home.
