ਅਖਾਣ: ਉਸ ਪੇਕੇ ਕੀ ਜਾਣਾ ਜਿਥੇ ਸਿਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾ ਪਾਣਾ॥
Akhan: Us peke ki jaana jithe sir paani na paana
ਅਰਥ: ਪਿੰਡ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਪੇਕਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਪਰ ਸੁਖ-ਅਰਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਥੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਵੀ ਬੇਕਾਰ ਹੈ।
Literal Translation: What’s the use of going to in-laws’ house where even water is not offered?
Meaning (English): Don’t value relationships where there is no respect or hospitality.
English Equivalent: A house without hospitality is no home.
